Lowering High Blood Pressure With Simple Lifestyle Changes
Someone approached me about six months ago and wanted to know what could be done to lower blood pressure. That person told me that their pressure was at a consistent 143/90. Anyone who knows about high blood pressure knows that these numbers are not good. This is what some physicians would call prehypertensive. This means that if you do not get it under control, it will blow up into full-blown high blood pressure.
It amazes me to this day how many people die every year in America from diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and other lifestyle diseases. People do not have to “DIE” if they are willing to make simple lifestyle changes. The person I talked about at the beginning of this article is a man who is now getting blood pressure readings of 120/60 on a consistent basis, and sometimes lowers. All he did was make simple lifestyle changes that I instructed him to do. He of course checked with his doctor before doing what I told him. I tell people right away that I am not a doctor I am a medical missionary who helps people by natural means by the grace of God. I am not against medicine, but I think if you catch an illness early enough, with changes to your eating habits and importing exercise into your lifestyle, you could overcome it.
The first thing I told the man to do was to stop eating high fat foods. I told him to abstain from any type of red meat. Lean chicken and fish was fine, but do not overdo it. I told him to walk for at least one hour daily. If it is not possible to walk everyday then aim for no less than three times weekly. I told him to get plenty of rest and not to skip meals. Smoking is definitely out of the question along with any type of alcoholic beverages.
After I told him all of this, he looked at me as if I was crazy. I reminded him of the consequences of not controlling his blood pressure early. Things like kidney failure, stroke, heart disease, erectile dysfunction, and high cholesterol did not appeal to him. He then told he would do his best.
Three months later, I ran into the man again and he hugged me. I did not remember him at first, but looking at him closely I recognized him. He had lost quite a bit of weight – 20 pounds to be exact. He could not stop thanking me for what I had done for him. His life was totally changed, and he did not need any blood pressure lowering medication. This man just followed a few simple lifestyle changes. I told him how happy I was for him and that he must now keep up this way of life, and not to fall back into the bad habits that made him sick in the first place.
