Information on Why we Gain Weight

Technorati Tags: , , , , , ,

Regardless of the cause, when more calories enter the body than are needed to operate, the body stores the surplus as fat. A pound of fat is 3,500 calories of stored energy. Small excesses, over a period, build up the fat stores. Other things being equal, one chocolate a day, providing slightly over a hundred calories, will in one year add ten pounds of body fat. Sleeping under an electric blanket instead of using the body to warm the bed will also add eight to ten pounds of fat in a year.

To maintain your weight you must balance the intake and output of energy you gain from food. If your intake is excessive, you should reduce it. If your output is inadequate, you should increase it.
