Foods That Help Prevent Cancer
Lemons
Because of an aromatic terpene found in the lemon called D-limonene found particularly in the peel, has been shown capable of neutralizing certain carcinogens. When D-limonene is given orally to laboratory animals one hour prior to feeding them a carcinogenic substance, they did not develop stomach cancer. Regular lemon consumption with meals can contribute to neutralizing many of the carcinogens found in foods and the environment, and, in this way, help prevent cancer.
Oranges
Eating a natural orange is by far superior to any pharmaceutical preparation as a source of vitamin C, oranges contain about 170 phytochemicals that potentiate and complement the action of this vitamin in the body. The vitamin C in the orange is a potent antioxidant and antitoxin, capable of neutralizing a variety of carcinogens such as the nitrosamines that form in cured meat and sausages. Vitamin C also improves the function of the immune system and helps slow the spread of tumor cells.
Grapefruit
The grapefruit has a specific combination of vitamin C, pectin, and limonoids that help protect against cancer by impeding the activity of many carcinogenic substances. Regular consumption of grapefruit and other citrus fruits is a good way to prevent cancer.
